Horseracing fans are in for an extra treat in Kerry this weekend with racing due to return to Tralee's Ballybeggan Park on Sunday March 18th at 2pm.

The six race North Kerry Harriers Point to Point card kicks off from 2pm and 70 horses are expected to compete for a total prize pot of €10,000.

There'll also be plenty of entertainment for families with free activities including face painting, bouncing castles, pony rides, stilt walkers, zorbing and music by Emerald Elvis among the attractions.

There will also be prizes for the best dressed lady, gent and mother and daughter too.

The event will have a full bar, catering facilities and bookmakers will also be in attendance with admission costing €8 for adults and free for children.

The days racing has been sponsored by Lee Strand and General Manager John O'sullivan said he was delighted to help bring racing back to Ballybeggan.

Ballybeggan racecourse has a very proud history and some of the greatest race horses to ever grace the sport won their maiden races at Ballybeggan.

Dawn Run won her bumper in Ballybeggan in 1982, Dermot Weld's Vintage Crop won the Carling Gold Cup here in 1992 before going on to win the Melbourne Cup and Aidan O' Brien first Derby winner Alexandrova had his maiden win at the course.
