Kenmare Fair Day

Today the 15th of August is the date of the yearly Kenmare Fair. This event is one of the highlights of Kenmare’s Diary and is a must if you’ve never experienced it. (Not to be confused with the Kenmare Market Day every Wednesday) The town will be packed, so be prepared for trafffic chaos and parking madness – but it’s worth a visit as it’s a unique experience. Fair day was a major part and parcel of all market towns in Ireland in days gone by, but now it’s all but a distant memory for most towns. Kenmare has one of the few remaining authentic Fairs and you’ll find all manor of beast and fowl on sale… There’s something for everyone with an eclectic mix of horse sales, power tools, fortune telling, pints, music and a general madness in the air.
