The East Kerry Roots Festival is held during Heritage week in Castleisland and its surrounding parishes.  It is an event which celebrates the culture and heritage in the Sliabh Luahra area. People from all over the world, who had ancestors in East Kerry, are encouraged to come back home for the Week of Welcomes, and enjoy the activities and events that will be organised, during the festival, in Castleisland and the surrounding parishes.  The visitors and locals can avail of a variety of events ranging from spending a "day in the bog" to spending time in the graveyards where their ancestors are buried.
