Friday 11th May (Category ‘C’ Easy Walk)
At 4pm depart the hotel on foot. Enter the Killarney National Park via the Golden Gate entrance. Continue to the Cathedral and Knockreer House & Gardens. Enjoy a detour to visit the shrine to Clochmacudda & soak up the views at Prospect Hill before continuing along Boithrin na Marbh and up to Aghadoe. Visit the 6th Century Monastery and graveyard before returning to The Killarney Park by bus. The duration of this walk is c. 2 hours
The route is a fully hard surface trail so runners or strong shoes should be adequate. Where the weather forecast is uncertain, walkers are advised to bring wet wear and/or umbrellas.
Saturday 12th May (Category ‘B’ Moderate Walk)
At 10am depart the hotel on foot to the Flesk Bridge via the Muckross Road. Enter the Jaunting Car road and continue to entrance of the National Park, past Muckross Abbey and Muckross House, join the Arthur Young trail, over to Brickeen Bridge and on to Dinis Cottage. Cross the main Kenmare road and on to the lower pathway across the face of Torc Mountain and up to Torc Waterfall. Return to Muckross House via The Old Boathouse Trail and the Arboretum. Arrive back to the Killarney Park by bus at approximately 4pm
The duration of this walk is c. 5 hours with a break for lunch at Dinis Cottage.
As this is a category ‘B’ walk a good level of fitness is required. It is also advised that good strong walking shoes are worn and where the weather forecast is uncertain walkers are advised to bring wet wear
Sunday 13th May (Category ‘B’ Moderate-Strenuous)
At 9am depart the hotel by bus to Tomies Wood. Walk along part of the Tomies Wood walk & on to the new pathway to the Minister’s Back. From here continue along to Glena Cottage. From this point you will be picked up by boat and brought on a visit to Innisfallen Island. Leaving the island the boats will continue along to Ross Castle where you will depart and walk back through the Killarney National Park via the River Walk and return once again to the Killarney Park at approximately 1pm.
The duration of this walk is c. 3 hours plus c.1 hour boat journey in total
As this is a category ‘B’ walk a good level of fitness is required and some hill walking experience is advisable. It is also advised that good strong walking shoes are worn and where the weather forecast is uncertain walkers are advised to bring wet wear.
